Before migrating to a new Android phone make sure to back up your WhatsApp account.
WhatsApp uses Google Drive to back up all your contacts, images, messages and videos. In order to use this feature, you must register for a Google Account. This is easiest way of ensuring everything is transferred to your new Android device.
In WhatsApp goto
Settings → Chats → Chat Backup → Backup
Once your backup has completed, you view this on your Google Drive account by visiting
https://drive.google.com/drive/backups
When you start WhatsApp for the first time on your new Android phone, it will ask if you would to restore all your contact, messages, images and videos from your backup on Google Drive.
You must backup WhatsApp on your old Android Phone before installing WhatsApp on your new Android phone to activate the restore feature.
