Regardless of how many times I am told a service is secure, I have never really liked the idea of online password managers.
If your looking for a free password manager that can be installed locally, kept completely offline then KeepassXC might be suitable for your needs.
Your passwords are saved in a single .kdbx file so can accessed in Windows, Linux and Mac versions. The .kdbx file can also be password protected providing an extra layer of security before accessing your information.
You can also keep the .kbdx file on a USB flash drive, therefore anytime you want to check a password, insert your USB flash drive open the .kbdx file, extract the information you need from KeepassXC, then remove the flash drive.
The only thing I would suggest is that you make a back up of your .kdbx file to another Flash drive or external hard drive. If your flash drive ever fails, you then have an extra back up.
Other functions to note, is that you can export your usernames and passwords to .csv, .html and .xml format.
KeepassXC also offers a portable version for Windows users, that can be installed directly to on a USB flash drive. You can also run the portable version of KeepassXC on Linux by using Wine, therefore you don't need to install KeepassXC on your main machine and keep KeepassXC completely off your machine.
