I am currently in the process of building another PC to connect to my main TV in the living room. The PC will eventually be used to stream live TV and movies, but will also be used to play games using Steam in Big Picture Mode.
If you have ever considered building your own complete custom PC including a custom case, one of the trickiest parts of the job is mounting and providing the cut outs for the motherboard, power supply, fans and other components.
I am reasonably competent at DIY, but decided to take a lot of hard work out of my build by purchasing an open computer chassis from ebay. I was really sceptical about the quality due to the price, but was pleasantly surprised. The assembly instructions were terrible, but in the end it went together and is now reasonably sturdy.

For the case I decided to purchase a Wine box from eBay. As you can it is the perfect size for the motherboard chassis, decent sized graphics card and other components.
The Wine box measures
Length: 52cm / 20.47"
Width: 33cm / 12.99"
Height: 19cm / 7.48"
The box will be very easy to modify and cut for the motherboard chassis back panel, switch, fans and some USB ports on the front to connect controllers. I may the leave the box as it is, or eventually paint it black and also build a lid.

I hope this article gives you some ideas on how to move forward with your own build, and provide some ideas on how to make your own build quicker. When complete a great amount of satisfaction can be gained.
